Dear Members and Friends,

I’m pleased to share a quick update from the Society of Plastics Engineers Australia–New Zealand Section (SPE: A-NZ) as we enter a new term of activity and engagement for 2025–2026.

We recently held our Annual General Meeting on 24 September, where I was honoured to be elected as President for the 2025–2026 term.

I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who joined us—whether in person or online—and to all members who continue to support SPE ANZ. As a volunteer-driven organisation, our strength lies in our members and industry partners.

In the coming year, we’ll continue our mission to serve and connect the plastics community across Australia and New Zealand. To do that effectively, we need your involvement and feedback. You can support SPE ANZ in many ways—by becoming a member, sponsoring an event, or simply attending the sessions that interest you. Every bit of engagement helps us deliver more meaningful value to the industry and ensure that the voice of plastics professionals in our region remains strong.

SPE and PLASTICS Announce Historic Merger

ree

You may have already seen the exciting news that the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) and the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) have announced a historic merger.

This marks a significant milestone in uniting the technical and manufacturing sides of our global plastics community. While there’s still much unfolding as the details are worked through, this merger could represent a major step forward for all SPE members, including those of us here in the ANZ region.

You can read the full announcement in our news section.

We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Heading to K 2025? Visit SPE at Hall 12, F89

If you’re attending the K Fair in Düsseldorf, be sure to visit the SPE booth in Hall 12, F89.

Although I won’t personally be there this year, several members of our board and other representatives from our region will be attending. It’s a great opportunity to connect with SPE’s global leadership team and other professionals from around the world.

Thank you again for being part of SPE ANZ and for helping us advance the plastics profession in Australia and New Zealand. I look forward to another active and engaging year ahead.

Warm regards,

Hamed Ghajarnia

President, SPE: A-NZ
